1918, end of the First World War. Joy of victory, misery and sorrow for all what was broken, courage to rebuild.

Together with soprano Liesbeth Devos, Elixir d’Anvers plunged again into its library and gathered there incredibly beautiful, but rather unknown music from this period. Despite everything, people played a lot of music those years, it was food for the soul.

“Music of dream and deed” is a concert that gives voice to these very different emotions. Triumphalistic jubilant songs, hopeful ragtimes but also poignant melodies to alleviate the suffering and the miseries.

Overall a liberation concert with a unique repertoire still very topical after 100 years.
